Job description

 

SUMMARY

The responsibility of the Assembler is to perform manual labor along production lines using a variety of hand and air powered tools, fixtures, work instructions and testing equipment to perform a series of operations to correctly assemble units per customer’s and internal quality specifications. Assemblers may perform minor repairs to units, and pack units for shipping as necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads and interprets work instructions to assemble a variety of HVAC subassemblies and finished goods

• Fabricates, assembles, and disassembles HVAC products by hand.

• Positions or aligns components and parts, either manually or with hoists.

• Uses tools (i.e. hand, torque, and air powered tools) to assemble parts. Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.

• Conducts quality control checks as well as end of line testing equipment to ensure product is assembled correctly and operational

• Labels and packages finished goods in preparation for shipment

• Cleans and maintains equipment, work area, and surroundings by complying with procedures

• Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

• Trains new assemblers as they come to the production line

• Elevates issues on the line to Lead personnel when necessary

• Rotates through all tasks/stations in the HVAC production process.

• Converses with engineering and manufacturing personnel.

• Work on other assignments as assigned

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of safety and quality practices and expectations

• Knowledge of basic computer skills to operate testing equipment

• Ability to read and comprehend work instructions to assemble HVAC units

• Ability to properly complete assembly related documentation

• Ability to visually inspect parts prior to assembly and units at work stations

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school education or any equivalent combination of education and experience

• Ability to read and interpret work instructions

• Familiarity with hand tools and equipment.

• General mechanical aptitude for the assembly process

• Attention to detail and ability to learn quickly

Job Description

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed and may require walking primarily on a level surface for a significant amount of the day (>8 hours). This position requires frequent reaching with occasional reaching above shoulder heights. May be occasionally required to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required.

This position may also require excellent eyesight to identify colors, depth, and dimension in the day-to-day work of an assembler.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The primary work environment provides for co-worker interactions, ambient room temperature, excellent lighting, and traditional assembly line production equipment as found in a typical manufacturing environment. The area is free from oils and other disagreeable elements. Certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, gloves, and mandatory hearing protection. Safety glasses and closed toed and closed heel shoes are required in all manufacturing areas.
