Job description

Lead Full Stack Engineer Brooksource Fortune 50 Health Insurance Client Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer who combines principal-level technical breadth with a passion for hands‑on software engineering. This is a highly influential role for a technologist who can serve as a go-to technical leader across complex digital solutions while remaining deeply engaged in architecture, design, and coding.

The Lead Full Stack Engineer will help shape the technical direction of digital and omnichannel experiences that enable members to search for providers, understand benefits and coverage, manage plans, and receive personalized, timely communications throughout their healthcare journey.

This role operates at approximately a 50/50 balance of technical leadership and hands‑on engineering. The successful candidate will lead senior engineers, influence technical strategy, collaborate directly with senior product and business leaders, and personally contribute to architecture and implementation.

The ideal candidate brings breadth across software engineering, backend and frontend development, cloud, data, digital channels, and emerging technologies. They do not need to be an expert in every technology, but they should be able to quickly understand unfamiliar technologies and systems, ask the right questions, identify technical risks, and guide teams toward effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a senior technical leader and go-to technologist for complex digital and omnichannel initiatives.
  • Lead technical architecture, solution design, and implementation for highly scalable digital platforms.
  • Translate product vision and business objectives into pragmatic technical strategies and executable solutions.
  • Partner with senior product, business, architecture, data, and technology leaders to define technical direction and delivery roadmaps.
  • Lead and mentor senior engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and constructive feedback.
  • Remain hands‑on by designing, developing, reviewing, troubleshooting, and delivering production‑quality software.
  • Lead development across frontend, backend, APIs, microservices, cloud infrastructure, and integrations.
  • Evaluate complex technical problems from both strategic and tactical perspectives and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Bring architectural thinking to backend systems, APIs, distributed services, and scalable digital platforms.
  • Help establish technical standards, engineering practices, development patterns, and automation strategies.
  • Review architecture and code to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Investigate and introduce new technologies, frameworks, processes, and engineering practices that improve delivery and innovation.
  • Work across digital channels, including web, mobile, and other member‑facing and omnichannel experiences.
  • Help shape future‑state product and technology capabilities as the organization scales its engineering workforce and product portfolio.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI‑driven development, agentic orchestration, and AI‑assisted engineering to improve products and engineering productivity.
  • Communicate technical concepts, trade‑offs, risks, and recommendations effectively to both technical and executive audiences.
Digital & Member Experience

The team is focused on creating modern, personalized member experiences across digital channels. Solutions may include:

  • Provider search and discovery
  • Benefits, coverage, and plan experiences
  • Member web portals
  • Mobile applications
  • Personalized member communications
  • Appointment reminders and other proactive member engagement
  • Omnichannel experiences spanning digital and call center interactions
  • Microservices and backend platforms supporting member‑facing applications
  • Personalized experiences powered by Adobe technologies

Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), and Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) is highly desirable.

Technology Environment

The Lead Engineer should have broad technical experience and the ability to quickly ramp up on new technologies. The environment may include:

  • .NET / C# and/or Java / Spring Boot
  • JavaScript / TypeScript / Node.js
  • Vue.js, React, and modern frontend frameworks
  • React Native and mobile application development
  • Azure Cloud
  • Microservices and distributed systems
  • RESTful APIs and web services
  • Kubernetes, Docker, AKS, and other orchestration technologies
  • Infrastructure and security as code
  • CI/CD and DevOps automation
  • Digital experience and personalization platforms
  • Data engineering and data science integrations
  • AI/ML and agentic AI / agentic orchestration
  • AI-assisted software development and code‑generation tools
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience in large‑scale enterprise or complex IT environments.
  • Demonstrated experience operating at a principal, staff, lead, or equivalent technical leadership level.
  • Deep hands‑on software engineering experience combined with broad technical knowledge across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong expertise in .NET/C# and/or Java/Spring Boot, with the ability to understand and work across multiple programming languages and technology stacks.
  • Strong experience designing and building highly scalable web platforms, backend services, APIs, and microservices.
  • Experience with modern frontend technologies such as Vue.js, React, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with React Native and mobile application development is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience with Azure or another major cloud provider.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AKS, or similar cloud‑native technologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of application architecture, distributed systems, backend architecture, APIs, security, scalability, and reliability.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex systems and ramp up on unfamiliar technologies.
  • Experience leading and mentoring senior‑level engineers.
  • Proven ability to influence technical direction without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to have meaningful technical and delivery discussions with senior product and business leaders.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution.
  • Experience working across multiple technology disciplines, such as software engineering, data engineering, data science, infrastructure, or enterprise architecture, is highly valued.
  • Experience with digital, omnichannel, personalization, or customer/member‑facing platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with AEM, AEP, and/or Adobe Journey Optimizer is a plus.
  • Experience effectively leveraging AI‑driven development, agentic AI/orchestration, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI‑assisted development tools is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, sound technical judgement, and the ability to make decisions in ambiguous and evolving environments.
Leadership Profile

The successful candidate is a builder and technical leader. You are comfortable moving between architecture discussions with senior leaders, whiteboarding a complex solution with engineers, reviewing code, and writing production software yourself.

You don't need to know every technology in the environment. Instead, you bring the technical depth and breadth to understand complex systems, identify the important details, ask the right questions, learn quickly, and guide teams toward scalable solutions.
