Job description

As a Software Engineering Manager (Frontend/Mobile) at Carbon Robotics, you'll lead the team building the command center for the future of agriculture. You'll sit at the intersection of AI, robotics, and user experience, translating deep technical complexity into intuitive, reliable tools that farmers depend on every day.

Working closely with world-class mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, you'll guide the development of high-performance web platforms and rugged, mission-critical mobile applications. Your team's work will be the primary interface between humans and our cutting-edge robotic systems operating in the real world.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You won't just set direction, you'll actively contribute to architecture, code, and execution. And when needed, you'll go directly to the field to ensure our products perform where it matters most: on the farm.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and grow a team building web and mobile applications that interface with both cloud services and robotic systems
  • Contribute directly to system architecture and code; this is a deeply technical, hands-on role
  • Partner cross-functionally with product managers and mechanical, electrical, and backend engineering teams
  • Drive execution across the full software development lifecycle: planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment
  • Set priorities, allocate resources, and ensure projects are delivered on time and at a high standard
  • Resolve technical and organizational challenges across teams
  • Mentor engineers and elevate the team's technical capabilities and output
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders across the company
  • Foster a culture of ownership, fast iteration, and high accountability in a startup environment
  • Participate in field testing, including on-site farm visits, to validate real-world performance
  • Build an in office culture (5 days/week)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:

  • Experience managing frontend (TypeScript, React) and/or mobile (Flutter) engineering teams
  • Ability to operate as a Lead Engineer in your area of expertise
  • Strong understanding of deploying and maintaining web and mobile applications in systems that integrate with backend services and hardware/robotics
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working across multidisciplinary teams
  • A leadership style that thrives in an in-office, highly collaborative environment
  • Willingness to spend time in the field
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
