MISSION

The Electronics Engineer is responsible for the architecture, design, and development of advanced electrical and electronic systems, including PCB assemblies, embedded microcontroller based designs, and connected/IoT enabled products. This role leads projects from concept through production, ensuring robust performance, manufacturability, and compliance with electrical industry standards.

Develop and manage projects and schedules as required. Prepare and present project details and updates to management committee. Support remote production facilities as needed. The role will be located in Newburyport, Massachusetts, reporting to the Director, R&D, Surge Protection.

DIMENSIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Financial - Cost target for the electronics design; Revenue impact of the project and offering.
  • Project - Project scope and time schedules;
  • Product - lifecycle support
  • Technical - From component selection to system architecture in analog, digital, and embedded system design, and its quality metrics.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead all aspects of electronics design for SPD/overvoltage protection products, from concept through production, operating with a high degree of autonomy and initiative.
  • Develop and manage schedules for new product projects from prototyping into production; maintain all required product documentation. Collaborate closely with mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure successful product development and launch
  • Define and execute design verification, validation, and reliability testing to ensure product performance and robustness. Ensure designs comply with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Resolve customer issues and determine root causes in a timely manner, implementing effective corrective actions. Optimize designs for cost, manufacturability, and testability; support component selection and supplier engagement.
  • Oversee and manage design modifications and engineering changes proposed by Product Management or other stakeholders, ensuring alignment across teams and product lines.
  • Promote and work within a highly collaborative environment, partnering with team members, cross functional departments, and global/remote locations as needed to drive project success and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Four to six years of experience in the field of electronic engineering and electronic device development.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in firmware development or coordination preferred
  • Working knowledge of UL Standard for Safety UL1449 and IEC 61643 preferred
  • Ability to work onsite in Newburyport, MA

The expected salary for this position is between $90,000 and $115,000 and will be eligible for incentive pay.  This range represents a good faith estimate for the position and actual compensation will be based on numerous factors including knowledge, locations, skills, training, and experience.
