Job description

At Onyva, we've reinvented dog grooming, turning a chore into a delightful, uplifting experience for dogs and dog parents alike. We believe dogs are the best, and dog people are the best people. In addition to Onyva grooming and cleaning, we're creating a community of like-minded dog lovers.

We’re on the hunt for a Full-time or Part-time Dog Stylist to join the team at our South Tampa spa. The Dog Stylist provides the highest quality grooming service for the Onyva dog customer and is responsible for the health and safety of dogs at all times they are under their care. Our Stylists present a calm and professional demeanor and impart a sense of comfort and confidence. They must be educated in the appropriate use of all bathing products and equipment in the spa, and are required to maintain a clean and hygienic environment. Our Dog Stylists perform excellent full-body clips according to the owners’ preference, in addition to bathing and clipping dogs. Dog Stylists will perform nail trims, dental cleanings, ear cleanings, paw, sanitary, and face trims, and de-matting/de-shedding when necessary.

If you’re passionate about dogs, dog people, and want to work within a spa-like dog-friendly environment — supportive and stress-free — Onyva is for you. This is your chance to join a team that believes in elevated, ethical dog grooming, and living wages with opportunity for career growth.

What We Offer:

  • Living Wages & Benefits: We believe in taking care of our people, which makes our people better equipped to take care of others. We pay a competitive hourly wage plus tips.
  • Access to Medical, Dental, & Vision Benefits: Including PTO and employee discount.
  • Ongoing Growth & Training: Advance your career with leadership coaching and our Train-the-Trainer program.
  • A Values-Driven Culture: We lead with dignity, kindness, and connection.
  • Significant Opportunity for Advancement: We promote from within and encourage both personal and professional growth.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Bathe, condition, and dry dogs with products appropriate for skin and coat type
  • Ensure that all dogs are safely monitored at all times throughout the grooming process
  • Groom and style dogs according to owner preference and/or Spa Manager instructions
  • Maintain a clean work environment
  • Maintain grooming tools and equipment
  • Inform Spa Manager or dog owner of all health concerns that may be observed during the grooming process
  • Safely de-mat and de-tangle coat using appropriate tools
  • Perform additional pet hygiene practices such as: nail trimming, tooth brushing, and ear cleaning
  • Uphold all policies, procedures, and grooming guidelines set by Onyva
  • Behave at all times as a member of the Onyva team, demonstrating respect and compassion for the grooming team members, physical spa space, and customers (dog and human)

Job Requirements:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of grooming experience preferred
  • Ability to work some weekends
  • Outgoing personality and ability to communicate well with pet parents
  • A genuine love of animals and animal people
  • Ability to lift and groom dogs up to 50 lbs.
