Job description

Position Summary
Ogletree's Knowledge and Innovation department has an opportunity for an experienced Business Intelligence Developer to join the expanding department. The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining analytics solutions that support data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role works closely with business partners to gather requirements, build scalable BI datasets, create dashboards and reports, and maintain the underlying data infrastructure that powers business insights. The BI Developer also performs complex data analysis, ensures data quality, and supports client-facing reporting needs.

Essential Functions
Data Analysis & Insights
  • Analyze, interpret, and visualize trends or patterns in complex data sets to support business decisions.
  • Perform data quality reviews and data assessments to identify anomalies, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports for internal stakeholders and external clients under tight deadlines.

Business Intelligence Development
  • Design, develop, deploy, and manage Power BI/Tableau datasets, dashboards, and paginated reports.
  • Build effective, user-friendly visualizations that meet business requirements and align with reporting standards.
  • Maintain and enhance existing BI solutions to improve performance, usability, and data accuracy.

SQL Development & Database Management
  • Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from enterprise data systems.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance SQL Server stored procedures to support automated reporting and data pipelines.
  • Enhance and troubleshoot existing SQL queries and database logic to improve performance and reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with business partners across departments to capture reporting requirements, clarify data needs, and design effective BI solutions.
  • Serve as a key technical liaison between business teams, IT, and data stakeholders.
  • Interact with client contacts regularly to deliver reporting, understand needs, and provide support.

Data Systems & Collaboration Tools
  • Develop and maintain SharePoint and Smartsheet solutions used for workflow management, collaboration, and data consolidation.
  • Ensure data governance standards, documentation, and best practices are adhered to across BI assets.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including stored procedure development.
  • 3-5 Years of Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI visualization tools.
  • Ability to analyze large and complex data sets.
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, and data models.
  • Strong background in data modeling, DAX/MDX, or equivalent analytics languages.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience gathering and translating business requirements.

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $107,744 and $161,616. In accordance with New York State's Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this New York State position is between $98,977 and $176,545. In accordance with California's amended labor code as stated in Senate Bill 1162, the expected salary range for this California position is between $102,095 and $176,545. In accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities act, the expected salary range for this Washington position is between $112,771 and $169,157. In accordance with the Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act, the expected salary range for this DC position is between $112,771 and $169,157. In accordance with Maryland's Equal Pay for Equal Work-Wage Range Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Baltimore position is between $102,095 and $153,143. In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act Transparency Notice, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is between $112,771 and $169,157. In accordance with Massachusetts Frances Perkins Workplace Equity Act, the expected salary range for this Massachusetts position is between $117,697 and $176,545. In accordance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Minnesota position is between $102,095 and $153,143. In accordance with New Jersey Senate Bill 2310, the expected salary range for this New Jersey position is between $117,697 and $176,545. In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, as of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current scale range for this position in Cleveland, OH is $98,977 and $148,465 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. This position qualifies for the benefits below.
