System Administrator
The Opportunity:
Your combination of people skills and system administrator expertise makes you the team hero, solving one problem after another. We're looking for a system administrator with customer-facing experience in secure Windows and Linux environments to help us securely modernize our system and networking infrastructure.
As a lead system administrator on our team, you'll gain hands-on experience with enterprise infrastructure, mission critical systems, and operations in classified and unclassified environments.
You'll guide your team as it provides insights through monitoring and performance management. Your system administration expertise will be vital as you evaluate opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical network. You'll help your team better understand the network by turning metrics into information and explaining their meaning and identify opportunities for modernization.
What You'll Work On:
  • Install, configure, secure, maintain, and optimize Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PKI, and core enterprise services.
  • Administer and support virtualized environments such as VMware, hypervisors, and virtual machines.
  • Maintain system documentation, architecture records, and configuration baselines.
  • Apply DoD cybersecurity and configuration management requirements including STIGs, RMF, and ACAS or Tenable.
  • Provide Tier 1 support when needed, including help desk triage, ticket resolution, user assistance, and basic access troubleshooting.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 escalation support for complex issues affecting servers, storage, networks, and enterprise applications.
  • Monitor system performance, uptime, and capacity; conduct root cause analysis and remediation.
  • Execute system patching, updates, backups, restoration procedures, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Support integration of new technologies, system upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Work with cross functional teams including cybersecurity, network engineering, and software development.
  • Maintain security posture through log analysis, auditing, access control enforcement, and vulnerability remediation.

You Have:
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GovCloud
  • Experience with Windows and Linux system administration
  • Experience with virtualization using platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
  • Experience with scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python
  • Experience with networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing and switching, and firewalls
  • Experience with system monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
  • Experience supporting secure, classified environments
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience with system administration, or 15+ years of experience with system administration in lieu of a degree
  • DoD 8140 or 8570 Certification such as Security+, CySA+, CCNA, or CASP+ Certification

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with DevOps, automation tools and configuration management such as Ansible, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring tools, including Splunk and Nagios
  • Ability to operate independently in sensitive, fast-paced mission environments
  • Ability to support senior technical and mission stakeholders
  • Possession of excellent communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
