Goods & Services is looking for a Lead Android Engineer to lead the development of our medical-grade Android mobile applications and SDKs. This role is responsible for providing technical leadership, driving architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality mobile solutions. The ideal candidate combines deep Android expertise with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Core Function:
  • Lead the design, architecture, development, and delivery of medical-grade mobile applications and SDKs using Java, Kotlin, and Kotlin

What you'll do:
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality Android applications and SDKs using Java, Kotlin, and KMM.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to Android engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with product management, cloud engineering, UX, QA, and other cross-functional teams to define technical solutions and product roadmaps.
  • Drive technical design discussions, establish engineering standards, and promote best practices across the team.
  • Translate customer, business, and market requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable mobile solutions.
  • Lead the integration of mobile applications with cloud-based platforms, APIs, and backend services.
  • Scope projects, decompose work into deliverable modules, estimate effort, and support program planning activities.
  • Mentor, coach, and support engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
  • Own application quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Drive troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, develop proofs of concept, and recommend solution alternatives.
  • Present technical concepts, architectures, and solutions to customers, partners, leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to Agile development practices and contribute to continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent education plus experience.
  • 4+ years Native Android development; Proven experience in Android development using Java and/or Kotlin.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing solutions and platforms that leverage wireless communications and Mobile Application technologies.
  • Strong understanding of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated work experience with Web services, Cloud and API technologies.
  • Ability to quickly grasp & learn new technologies and develop POC/prototypes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail; drive and own technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform applications.
  • Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Excellent communications skills and extensive experience working with technical teams and management.
  • Mobile apps or Cloud apps software development tools.
  • Experience with Agile software development.
