We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Construction 3D Modeler to support our heavy civil/transportation survey and construction teams. We are seeking a hands-on 3D Modeling & Digital Delivery Manager to lead modeling efforts in support of survey and construction operations across heavy civil and infrastructure projects. In this role, you will be responsible for developing accurate, construction-ready 3D models, managing digital delivery workflows, and building a scalable modeling team. The ideal candidate is both a player and a coach - actively involved in modeling production, capable of producing high-quality work while developing team capabilities and establishing standards across projects.
Your work directly supports strategic infrastructure initiatives that enhance AI data center capacity, energy reliability, and community resilience. District Overview
We build heavy civil and transportation projects, including highways, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams and tunnels, as well as support site development and concrete portions for industrial projects like data centers, water treatment facilities and power. With one of the largest equipment fleets in the region, we can mobilize to any location as a full-service construction team capable of self-performing mass grading, drainage, bridge construction, aggregate production, paving, rail and utility construction.
Location
We are looking for 3D Modelers to support projects in various states but based in our Lone Tree office. Up to 20% travel required for short durations, and travel may include the following states: CO, MT, WY, ND, SD, IA, MN, NM, NE, KS, MO, MS, NM, TN and KY
Responsibilities
Hands-On Modeling & Production:
- Develop 3D models using MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and Trimble Business Center (TBC)
- Generate construction deliverables (surfaces, corridors, alignments, quantities)
- Perform quality control on models and plans
Digital Delivery & Systems Management:
- Lead use of Trimble Connect for model coordination and field integration
- Develop workflows for model-based construction and survey data integration
Coordination & Field Integration:
- Act as link between survey, field engineering, and design teams
- Identify and resolve design/model issues
Team Development & Leadership:
- Build and mentor a 3D modeling team
- Provide hands-on training while actively producing work
Process Development:
- Standardize workflows, file structures, and modeling practices
Qualifications
Technical:
- 5+ years heavy civil construction 3D modeling experience. Associates/Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Survey, or Engineering preferred
- Expertise required in one or more of the following: MicroStation, ORD/InRoads, Trimble Business Center or Trimble Connect
- Strong understanding of survey workflows and machine control, where you have developed 3D models for Survey teams.
- General understanding of different design and survey data types and data transfer processes
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D (or similar) for extracting and interpreting design data
Ability to read and interpret contract drawings, specifications and construction plans to generate
Field Layout (lines and points)
Estimates (takeoff for all disciplines)
3D models (surfaces, corridors, and structures)
Leadership:
- Ability to train and mentor others
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Work Style:
- Ability to manage multiple projects, able to identify design issues in a timely manner
- Self-motivated and accountable, strong work ethic; Ability to communicate proficiently and work closely with Designers, Surveyors, Field Engineers, Estimators and Schedulers.
Work Conditions
- Typical work schedule of 40-60 hours per week based on project demands
- This is a salaried position requiring effective time management and the ability to balance workload across multiple projects
