Job description

Taylor Hopkinson is currently in active pursuit of a Pre-Construction Project Manager in Austin, Texas and Chicago, Illinois with a leading renewable energy company driving the clean energy transition with investments in wind, solar, and battery storage across nearly 30 countries.


The Preconstruction Project Manager prepares onshore wind, solar, and energy storage projects for construction. Responsibilities include ensuring engineering is complete for bidding and construction, developing cost estimates, securing civil permits, allocating Owner Supplied Equipment, managing interconnection processes, and aligning scopes of work for bidding. The role also incorporates lessons learned to de-risk projects and ensure seamless contractor mobilization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering & Survey Coordination: Oversee geotechnical, civil, HV, PV, and BESS engineering, ensuring timely completion for bidding. Manage third-party engineers and internal timelines.
  • Site Layout Optimization: Work with Engineering and Development teams to ensure cost-effective and compliant designs.
  • Permitting: Develop a permitting plan for civil-related work, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained before construction.
  • Interconnection Process: Coordinate tasks, equipment, and testing required for facility interconnection.
  • O&M Integration: Ensure O&M facility requirements, spares lists, and initial project setup are incorporated into the BoP scope of work.
  • Scope of Work & Contracting: Assemble and finalize scopes of work with Engineering and Project Execution teams, coordinating with Procurement for bidding and contract negotiations.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in renewable energy construction, engineering, or project management.
  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
