The Design Layout Supervisor leads a team of Layout Engineers to ensure on-time delivery of the engineering documentation - Layout, Foundation drawings - within customer expectation. The Supervisor supports the department in the day-to-day project planning and execution, including coaching, technical advice and escalations, as well as, support Service and Sales in all technical aspects of the customer project. A successful Supervisor is passionate about the customer experience, demonstrates excellent communication skills, effective personal/time management, employs strong personal initiative, and is effective at coping with competitive priorities.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of Layout Engineers, responsible for daily coaching and project level assistance.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the technical configuration meets the customer requirements.
  • Facilitate weekly project status meetings and works closely with Sales, Contracts, Engineering, Service, and Logistics to ensure clear communication of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Work on solutions attending customer special requests balancing effort, cost and strategic importance. Communicates with the R&D departments among the TRUMPF group regarding special requests and its implementation. Follows existing processes, such as the Tuesday Meeting, etc.
  • Define technical scope of automation systems.
  • Define content of engineering layouts and foundation, Dispo plan. Review and release engineering package.
  • Identifies opportunities for growth and innovation and creates culture for continuous process improvement to achieve a high degree of project execution excellence
  • Identify common customer requests for future standardization.
  • Proactively identifies potential technical issues, drives resolution to avoid customer impact and facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Travel requirement up to 20%, including overnight travel.

Experience

Three to six years previous experience in similar fields required. Project management and knowledge of TRUMPF machines and automated systems experience required. Experience with SAP will be helpful.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial / Business Engineering or similar fields. Master's degree preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication
