Job description

2027 Summer Law Clerk Program

Murray Osorio, PLLC is a full-service immigration law firm representing clients in all areas of immigration law, including removal defense, family-based immigration, business immigration, and federal litigation.

Our 10-week Summer Law Clerk Program is designed to give law students meaningful, hands-on exposure to immigration law. Law clerks rotate through our Affirmative, Defensive, Litigation, and Business teams, allowing them to experience different areas of immigration law while working directly with attorneys and clients.

Program Structure

  • One week of orientation and training
  • Three three-week rotations through our Affirmative, Defensive, Litigation, and Business teams
  • A dedicated attorney mentor during each rotation
  • Opportunities to work directly with multiple attorneys across the firm
  • Weekly skills-development sessions and substantive immigration-law training
  • Lunch-and-learn sessions and firm social events

Law clerks may assist with:

  • Legal research and writing
  • Affidavits and declarations
  • Motions and briefs
  • Client communication
  • Case preparation
  • Immigration applications and petitions
  • Litigation and appellate matters

Practice Areas

  • Affirmative
The Affirmative team handles matters submitted to USCIS and the Department of State, including family- and marriage-based petitions, asylum, adjustment of status, waivers of inadmissibility, consular processing, and naturalization.
  • Defensive
The Defensive team represents clients in removal proceedings, including detained and non-detained matters involving asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, and court-based waivers.
  • Litigation
The Litigation team handles appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals and U.S. Courts of Appeals, as well as federal litigation, including mandamus and habeas corpus matters.
  • Business

The Business team helps clients secure temporary work visas and employment/ investor based green cards.

Professional Development

Throughout the summer, law clerks will participate in substantive training sessions with attorneys throughout the firm, receive mentorship and feedback, and have opportunities to learn about the day-to-day practice of immigration law. Our goal is to identify outstanding law clerks for potential post-graduate associate opportunities with Murray Osorio.

Qualifications

We are seeking motivated law students who:

  • Will be rising 3Ls in summer 2027
  • Have a strong interest in immigration law
  • Demonstrate strong legal research and writing skills
  • Are detail-oriented and organized
  • Are comfortable working collaboratively
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Are committed to serving immigrant communities
