Job description

Job Summary:

The Rehab Pitching Coordinator plays a critical role in overseeing and guiding the return to play process for injured pitchers. This position collaborates with the medical, performance, and player development staff to ensure individualized, evidence based, and data-driven rehabilitation programs for pitchers recovering from injury. The Rehab Pitching Coordinator will have a deep understanding of pitching mechanics, pitch shapes, return to play protocols, and stay current with player development teachings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of individualized return to play programming for injured pitchers in collaboration with Detroit Tigers medical & performance science
  • Monitor and adjust rehab progression based on player readiness, objective data, and medical feedback
  • Lead daily throwing programs and bullpen sessions during return to play phases, ensuring biomechanical efficiency, workload management and proper pitch shapes
  • Utilize current player development resources, tools and technology to track progress, delivery, pitch shapes and return to play benchmarks
  • Collaborate closely with strength & conditioning, performance science, medical and mental performance to ensure comprehensive development
  • Maintain detailed documentation of rehab progression and consistent communication to player development leadership, appropriate coaching staffs and medical personnel
  • Support organization wide pitching initiatives, philosophies, and coaching development
  • Lead and collaborate with key stakeholders on research related to pitching development, return to play protocols, and initiatives


Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of return to play protocols
  • Experience with pitching development technologies
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams
  • Spanish fluency preferred
  • Skilled in using data and analytics to enhance player readiness and return to play protocols
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging across formats and audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail


Working Conditions:

  • Office and field environment
  • Evenings, weekend, and holiday hours are required
