Job description


  • Manage all aspects of assigned capital projects requiring environmental assessment and remediation

  • Select contractors and coordinate procurement

  • Manage project budgets and finances

  • Develop project regulatory strategic plans

  • Ensure project environmental compliance

  • Develop remediation site assessment and corrective action technical strategies

  • Prepare project documentation and internal reports

  • Provide routine financial summaries to business unit project managers

  • Engage subject matter experts and Environmental and Safety Field Support as needed

  • Provide environmental reports for regulatory compliance and internal customers

  • Monitor EHS practices to facilitate compliance and mitigate risks

  • Research, develop, and evaluate intermediate-level EHS programs, policies, and activities

  • Provide information and consultation to management and assigned customers on EHS programs and policies

  • Support regulatory, legislative, industry standards, training, procedures, and compliance program activities

  • Work with federal, state, and local regulatory authorities with leadership guidance

  • Support internal and external industry committees and teams

  • Develop positive working relationships with peers, customers, employees, and management


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Health and Safety, Engineering, or another related degree

  • Alternatively, high school/GED and 7 years of related work experience

  • Duke Energy internship or co-op experience

  • Valid driver's license

  • Ability to work lawfully in the United States without employment-based immigration sponsorship

  • Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or Health and Safety desired

  • Four years of experience working on environmental assessment and remediation projects preferred

  • Experience with Florida Department of Environmental Protection Chapter 62-780 Contaminated Site Cleanup Criteria preferred

  • Working knowledge of Florida contaminated site, waste management, and Underground Storage Tank (UST) programs preferred

  • 40-hour hazardous waste operations and emergency response training with 8-hour refreshers in good standing per OSHA requirements preferred

  • Professional Engineer, Project Management Professional, CSP, QEP, CHMM, CIH, or Professional Geologist certification desired

  • Willingness and ability to travel 15โ€“25%

  • Ability to perform occasional mildly strenuous physical activity, including extensive walking on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs/ladders

  • Occasional overtime, weekend, outage, and callout work
