Overview

Summary: The Safety Manager leads and oversees all aspects of the companyโ€™s safety, health, and environmental compliance programs across field operations. This role ensures full compliance with LAUSD OEHS, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and AQMD regulations while driving a proactive safety culture throughout the organization. The Safety Manager maintains a strong field presence, develops and implements comprehensive safety programs, and partners closely with project leadership to integrate safety planning into daily operations. This position directly impacts workforce safety, project execution, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees and manages the Safety Officer(s).
  • Lead and enforce compliance with LAUSD OEHS, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and AQMD safety and environmental standards across all projects.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Job Safety Plans (JSPs), hazard analyses, and company safety programs.
  • Maintain HEPA vacuum certifications and ensure all equipment meets LAUSD, Cal/OSHA, and AQMD environmental requirements.
  • Maintain and manage AQMD registrations, permits, and certificates for regulated equipment.
  • Oversee hazardous waste transport and disposal under CA DOT and EPA regulations.
  • Conduct routine and unscheduled site inspections, safety audits, and jobsite safety meetings.
  • Lead incident investigations, prepare reports, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Technicians to embed safety planning into daily work activities.
  • Serve as the primary company liaison during LAUSD OEHS, AQMD, and regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for field personnel and management.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly safety reports for executive review.
  • Track safety metrics, trends, and leading indicators to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or related field (emphasis on Safety) or equivalent relevant experience
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health
  • OSHA Confined Space Entry โ€“ Construction
  • OSHA Fall Protection Training and Certification
  • Asbestos Building Inspector Initial (AHERA)
  • Asbestos Management Planner (AHERA, 16 Hours)
  • Operations & Maintenance (AHERA, 16 Hours)
  • USEPA Leadโ€‘Safe Renovator (RRP) Certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 yearsโ€™ experience in school district or publicโ€‘sector construction

Pay Range

$120,000 - $150,000

Base pay ranges are estimated. Actual base pay will be based on education, experience, location, certifications, skill set, and any other relevant factors. Incentive/variable pay opportunities are in addition to base pay.
