PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Employees in this job classification are required to perform the daily operation of the laundry at assigned campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read and write and have communication skills necessary to converse with various types of persons
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning and sanitation methods
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Experience:
  • General knowledge of field
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1.             Direct all phases of laundry service necessary to meet the
                needs of the district including picking up and delivery scheduling, washing and using proper washing methods.
2.             Must be willing to work with changing assignment.
3.             Responsible for meeting performance standards.
4.             Maintain a clean, safe and well organized facility and work area.
5.             Perform scheduled and emergency repairs and/or maintenance as directed.
6.             Responsible for reporting needed repairs in an orderly manner.
7.             Carry out all duties in accordance with BISD Board of Education policies and administrative regulations.
8.             Maintain a high personal standard in the following areas: attitude, cooperation, dependability, judgment, initiative, self-improvement and as a role model for students.
EQUIPMENT USED:
  • Washing machine, dryers, vacuums, floor machine, buffers, and other cleaning equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Work with frequent interruptions
Physical Demands
  • Heavy lifting with minimum floor to knuckle lift of 125 lbs.
  • Substantial amount of walking, standing, kneeling, bending, climbing, squatting
Environmental Demands
  • Work outside and inside: exposure to hot and cold temperatures, and exposure to excessive humidity
  • Exposure to a fumes from bleach and detergents
  • Working on ladders
  • May be required to work at night or protracted hours
  • Subject to reassignment as directed
 
**The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check. A cost of up to $50. 00 will be charged for fingerprinting.
