Laundry Attendant

Department – Housekeeping

Reports to – Facilities Manager


What’s the job?

As a Laundry Attendant – you’ll properly and efficiently perform all laundry duties and perform housekeeping duties when required. You’ll be responsible for properly and efficiently perform evening cleaning activities of the Hotel’s facilities, including routine cleaning of guestrooms, public areas, back of the house and laundry operations. In addition, you’ll support the front office in delivering on guest service requests.


Your day-to-day

Laundry Operations

  • Maintain and perform laundry operations in accordance with Opal’s training and standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment in the laundry room.

Cleaning

  • Guest Rooms: Clean guest rooms, thoroughly, efficiently, and ready for sale, in accordance with Opal’s training and standards.
  • Supplies & Amenities: Replenish guest room supplies and amenities in cleaned rooms in accordance with Opal’s standards.
  • Public Areas: Clean public areas, thoroughly, efficiently, and as assigned or required by the supervisor in accordance with Opal’s training and standards.

Profit

  • Effectively support the control and management of all laundry operational expenses including labor, overtime, supplies etc., and seek and suggest cost saving strategies. Participate in controlling daily costs per occupied room (CPOR) for all housekeeping and laundry activities.

Quality

  • Guest Service: Work closely with the housekeeping staff to ensure that the hotel meets/exceeds Opal’s and brand standards for guest satisfaction.
  • Guest Requests: Satisfy all guest requests in accordance with Opal’s training and standards.
  • Communication: Politely greet and acknowledge all guests and hotel associates as encountered.

Safety & Security

  • Laundry: Perform all laundry functions in a safe and sanitary fashion and without jeopardizing personal, associate or guest health, safety or security.
  • Cleaning: Perform all cleaning functions in a safe and sanitary fashion and without jeopardizing personal, associate or guest health, safety or security.
  • Emergency: In case of an emergency, strictly follow Opal’s and security training and protocol.

Leadership

  • Leading: Motivate and support housekeeping team members and be accountable in achieving set goals.
  • Work Ethic: Demonstrate a high level of integrity, take ownership of personal and team actions, communicate effectively, promote collaboration, nurture a positive, professional work environment, and adhere to Opal’s Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or higher-level education preferred
  • Willing to work the evening shift and flexible hours.
  • Must wear appropriate uniform as prescribed by Opal’s policy.
  • Must maintain personal cleanliness

Specific Responsibilities

  • Have a good understanding of all laundry operating procedures.
  • Operate the laundry equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and Opal’s training and standards.
  • Handle, fold and stack clean linens in a safe, sanitary and organized fashion in accordance with Opal’s training and standards.
  • Promptly inform the Executive Housekeeper of any malfunctions in the laundry room equipment or any safety issues.
  • Keep track of laundry room supplies and chemical inventory and alert the Facilities Manager of potential shortages.
  • Be knowledgeable of room types and standards for supplies.
  • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, replenish supplies and amenities, inspect, and report rooms ready for sale to the front desk all in accordance with Opal’s training and standards.
  • Inspect rooms with Opal’s check list before releasing for sale.
  • Open and close rooms as required for maintenance and timely and properly report maintenance requirements.
  • Follow all existing and new laundry and housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Maintain public areas clean, attractive, safe and presentable at all times.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and the cleaning cart in a safe, organized and presentable fashion.
  • Comply with and honor the laundry work schedule.
  • Follow the company appearance and uniform policy.
  • Attend regular Housekeeping departmental meetings.
  • Perform and be accountable for delegated responsibilities and duties.
  • Inform the Executive Housekeeper of any unique situations, or unusual developments in the laundry or housekeeping operations.
  • Ensure the prompt and systematic servicing of all guest requests.
  • Handle guest complaints effectively.
  • Be willing and able to work any shift and fill in when other employees are not able to work their scheduled shift.
  • Promote goodwill by being courteous, friendly, and helpful to guests, managers and all other associates.
