Position Summary
The Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor plans, organizes, and directs the overall operations of the housekeeping and laundry department to ensure a clean, safe working environment, and maintain the Community?s high standards and polished appearance in accordance with all laws, regulations and Century Park standards. Reports to the Maintenance Director or the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Education/Licensure/Experience
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have minimum of 2 years? supervisory experience, preferably in senior living or health care setting
  • Must have training in environmental control practices and procedures

Primary Job Responsibilities
Administrative and Planning Duties
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Housekeeping and Laundry department
  • Inventories stock ensuring adequate supplies and equipment available for staff
  • Coordinates cleaning schedules with other department needs

Housekeeping and Laundry Duties
  • Inspects performance and productivity of housekeeping and laundry staff during daily rounds
  • Monitors cleanliness of entire community (i.e., hallways, common areas, lobbies, offices) for dusting, vacuuming and carpet cleaning needs
  • Adjusts schedules to meet additional cleaning needs
  • Inspects equipment ensuring in proper working order and ready for next use
  • Ensures team is properly trained on safety, chemicals, supplies and compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Designates cleaning assignments (apartments and common areas)

Supervisory Requirements
  • Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates, supervises and counsels housekeeping and laundry team timely and effectively
  • Schedules department hours appropriately
  • Serves as an effective role model
  • Maintains an approachable management style

Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to effectively manage and operate within budget, including labor and expense control
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Must be knowledgeable of housekeeping and laundry practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing housekeeping and laundry functions in an assisted living Community
  • Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the housekeeping and laundry department
  • Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: general housekeeping and laundry responsibilities, supervisory responsibilities, and safety and sanitation
  • Must be able to perform duties as a Housekeeping and/or Laundry Assistant as needed
  • Must be able to routinely inspect Community for cleanliness and safety (i.e., storage rooms, closets, common areas, etc.)
  • Maintains confidentiality of all propriety and/or confidential information
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service and hospitality
  • Must demonstrate trustworthiness and dependability
  • Must work efficiently and effectively with little to no supervision
  • Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient in computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word, internet based ordering systems, email)
  • Must always be in proper attire and well groomed
  • Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
