POSITION SUMMARY
The Laundry Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the residents' clothing, bedding, and other
linens are cleaned and maintained in a timely and hygienic manner. The role involves close
collaboration with other staff to ensure the comfort and well-being of the residents within the
facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to all components of the above position summary the following "Essential Duties and
Responsibilities" are essential to successful performance in this position
โ€ข Collect, sort, and launder all residents' clothing, bed linens, towels, and other items,
ensuring that colors and fabrics are appropriately separated.
โ€ข Fold, iron, and return laundered items to the respective resident's room in a neat and
orderly fashion.
โ€ข Identify and treat stains or damage on clothing or linens promptly.
โ€ข Operate laundry machines following the manufacture's instructions and facility protocols.
โ€ข Perform routine checks and maintenance on laundry equipment to ensure it's in good
working condition.
โ€ข Report any malfunctions or needs for repairs to the facility management.
โ€ข Ensure that all clothing is laundered according to care instructions, ensuring the longevity
of items, and avoiding damage.
โ€ข Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety precautions when
handling soiled laundry.
โ€ข Liaise with residents and/or their families regarding specific laundry preferences or
concerns.
โ€ข Collaborate with the housekeeping and care staff to ensure timely collection and delivery
or laundry.
โ€ข Adhere to all facility health and safety protocols.
โ€ข Ensure that the laundry area is kept clean, organized, and free from hazards.
โ€ข Keep track of laundry supplies and notify the manager when supplies are running low.
โ€ข Handle residents' personal items with care, ensuring nothing is lost or misplaced.
โ€ข Perform other duties as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
โ€ข The incumbent in this position will not have any supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS
โ€ข At least 18 years of age.
โ€ข Required Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance.
โ€ข Any special licenses, certifications, and certificates (First Aid/ CPR Certified)
โ€ข Special skills needed to meet client needs [California Code of Regulations Sections:
85065(f)/87411(g)]
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent
โ€ข Previous experience in laundry services or a similar role is a plus.
โ€ข Experience in assisted living, health care, or a similar environment is a plus.
