Lateral Conflicts Analyst

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Consilioโ€™s Direct Hire division is partnering with a DC law firm to identify a Lateral Conflicts Analyst to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a sophisticated risk and compliance function supporting high-level lateral hiring decisions in a global law firm environment.

Position Overview

The Lateral Conflicts Analyst serves as a primary resource for analyzing conflict-of-interest risks related to prospective lateral hires (attorneys and staff). This role is responsible for reviewing conflicts data, conducting research, preparing risk assessments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to facilitate compliant and efficient onboarding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Legal Recruiting and Human Resources to gather accurate conflicts information on lateral candidates
  • Conduct in-depth triage reviews of potential attorney and non-attorney hires
  • Generate and review conflict reports using internal databases and external research tools
  • Analyze search results to identify, summarize, and assess potential conflicts of interest
  • Research client histories and relevant matters tied to both prior and prospective representations
  • Evaluate legal, ethical, and business risks associated with conflicts scenarios
  • Collaborate with Intake Attorneys, senior leadership, and Ethics stakeholders to elevate and resolve complex issues
  • Assist in developing and implementing conflict resolution strategies, including waivers and ethical screens
  • Communicate status updates on candidate clearances and conflicts evaluations to key stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate and organized records, ensuring data integrity and compliance
  • Provide guidance to attorneys and staff regarding conflicts and intake policies
  • Support firmwide initiatives related to conflicts processes and policy updates
  • Participate in after-hours or weekend rotation for urgent conflicts matters, as needed
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a law firm conflicts or risk management role
  • Strong understanding of Rules of Professional Conduct, particularly conflict-of-interest provisions
  • Experience using conflicts and intake systems (e.g., Intapp)
  • Proficiency with legal research tools such as Lexis, PACER, and business research platforms

Preferred:

  • JD or advanced legal training
  • Familiarity with Elite 3E and iManage systems

Work Environment & Compensation
  • Hybrid schedule: approximately 60% in-office / 40% remote
