A LASIK job typically refers to positions in the field of laser eye surgery, such as LASIK technicians, ophthalmic assistants, or surgeons who perform the procedure. Roles can vary from clinical support to specialized surgical positions, requiring different levels of education and certification.

What does a lasik technician do?

As a LASIK Technician, your days often involve performing pre-operative patient assessments, preparing and maintaining specialized surgical equipment, and assisting physicians during refractive procedures. To thrive as a LASIK Technician or LASIK Coordinator, you need expertise in ophthalmic procedures, a strong grasp of refractive surgery concepts, and often require certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or equivalent. Familiarity with diagnostic imaging equipment, LASIK surgical systems, and patient record databases is essential. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to reassure and educate patients will help you excel in this role. These competencies ensure precise pre-operative assessments, smooth surgical workflows, and a positive patient experience throughout the vision correction process.
