Job description

Laser Tracker Operator

Position Summary

The Laser Tracker Operator verifies that parts meet all customer requirements as specified in the customer quality plan. This role requires previous experience in a similar field, strong knowledge of inspection methods, and the ability to complete basic laser tracker maintenance as specified. Reports to the Quality Manager, Quality department.

Employment Type: Full time, Hourly

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify that manufactured and purchased parts conform to engineering drawings and CAD specifications utilizing Leica or Faro laser trackers.
  • Create inspection programs and comprehensive inspection reports from 2D drawings and 3D CAD data using SpatialAnalyzer software.
  • Provide real-time inspection data to subassembly personnel to assist with alignment, adjustments, and final accuracy requirements.
  • Mark up raw or semi-finished manufactured parts for finish-machining operations as required by manufacturing routings.
  • Identify deviations, process Non-conforming reports, and support root-cause investigations.
  • Perform basic, routine maintenance and field checks on laser tracker equipment as specified by the manufacturer.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience operating Leica or Faro laser trackers in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Required experience with SpatialAnalyzer (SA) inspection software.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data logging and basic reporting.
  • Strong basic math skills (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must work overtime as required.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, and crane (training provided).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Ability to climb ladders repeatedly.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, crouch, and crawl for more than 8 hours per day.
