Large Store Account Manager information

What is a large store account manager?

A Large Store Account Manager is a sales professional responsible for managing relationships with high-volume retail accounts, such as major grocery chains, big box stores, or wholesale clubs. They work to ensure products are properly stocked, promoted, and sold in these stores, often negotiating contracts, setting sales targets, and coordinating promotional activities. Their goal is to maximize product visibility and sales performance within large retail environments. They also collaborate with internal teams and store management to execute marketing strategies effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a large store account manager?

To thrive as a Large Store Account Manager, you need strong sales acumen, negotiation skills, and a background in business or marketing, often supported by a relevant bachelor's degree. Proficiency with CRM software, data analysis tools, and retail management systems is typically required. Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and problem-solving skills help differentiate top performers in this role. These capabilities are crucial for driving account growth, optimizing store performance, and maintaining positive, long-term client partnerships.

How does a large store account manager typically collaborate with other departments to achieve sales targets?

A Large Store Account Manager works closely with cross-functional teams such as marketing, supply chain, and merchandising to ensure that client needs are met and sales goals are achieved. They regularly coordinate with the marketing team to develop tailored promotions and with supply chain teams to ensure product availability and timely delivery. This role often involves participating in joint business planning sessions with internal stakeholders and retail partners, fostering strong communication to resolve challenges quickly and drive successful outcomes.

Job description

Retail Account Manager – National Accounts

We are looking for a Retail Account Manager – National Accounts to join a growing team and take ownership of key retail accounts. This is not a traditional retail store management position and is not primarily a new-business sales role. The Account Manager will focus on managing and growing existing retail business by identifying opportunities, solving account issues, and ensuring strong execution across retail partners. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the national retail environment and enjoys a fast-paced, hands-on role where no two days are exactly the same.

What You’ll Be Doing

We are looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of day-to-day account responsibilities, including:

  • Analyzing sales data, forecasts, budgets, and prior-year performance
  • Managing and growing existing national retail accounts
  • Identifying opportunities to increase sales, revenue, and SKU placement
  • Monitoring inventory and helping resolve out-of-stock issues
  • Planning and coordinating promotions
  • Conducting line reviews and competitive/industry analysis
  • Coordinating supply and demand needs
  • Maintaining product information and online/rich-media content
  • Reviewing account performance and making recommendations
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with retail partners and vendors
  • Managing multiple priorities and projects at the same time
  • Responding quickly and professionally to customer and vendor needs
  • Identifying problems before they become bigger problems and taking action to solve them
About the Company

Our client is a boutique manufacturer representative firm that helps brands grow and succeed with some of the largest national retailers in the country. The company works closely with both brands and retail partners to drive sales, improve account performance, and identify opportunities for growth.

With a small, experienced team, the company offers a more hands-on and entrepreneurial environment than a large corporate organization. Team members are given significant ownership over their work and are expected to be proactive, resourceful, and committed to providing exceptional service to clients and retail partners.

This is an opportunity to join an established company with a strong track record and make a direct impact on the continued growth of the business.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $80,000–$95,000 annual base salary

  • Up to a 20% annual performance bonus, based equally on individual and company performance.

  • 401(k) with 4% company match

  • Medical insurance with 75% Paid for Employee only

  • 3 weeks paid time off

  • Additional commission opportunity for new business development
