Department of Art - 2D and 3D Production Technology Specialist (part-time 17.5 hours/week)

The Department of Art is searching for a 2D and 3D Production Technology Specialist. This employee will maintain and help train students and others in using tech equipment used for producing art.

Application Instructions: To be considered for this position, please include a resume and a cover letter explaining your relevant experience.

What you'll do in this position:

  • Ensure the organization and maintenance of the department's stock of video, photo, and audio equipment, as well as the larger pieces of equipment used in producing art, including 3D printers, laser cutters, cnc routers, large-format inkjet printers, risograph printers, and matting and framing equipment
  • Train students and others in the safe use of these tools
  • Supervise student use of sensitive equipment (printers, cutters etc).
  • Work with other department employees to manage the checkout system for small pieces of equipment

What qualifies you for this role:

Required:

  • Experience with using many or all of the following: 3d printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, large-format inkjet printers, Risograph printers, matting and framing equipment
  • Either experience maintaining the above equipment or the ability to learn quickly from available resources to properly maintain the equipment
  • Good organizational skills
  • A proactive approach to be constantly improving our processes and systems
  • Good communication

Preferred:

  • Experience working with art or artists
