Job description

Description The Springfield-Greene County Park Board is seeking a Golf Course Working Leader for Rivercut Golf Course. This position will serve as the lead worker by directing employees and participating in the work necessary for maintenance, upkeep, and operation of the course. This position will report to the Golf Course Supervisor, but serves as lead on projects, trouble shooting, irrigation, chemical application at times, and more.

About Rivercut: Rivercut was named Golf Digest's #1 Municipal Golf Course in Missouri in 2009. This 18-hole championship course, at 7,066 yards and a par of 72, is exceptionally designed. Fairways border the scenic James River, providing one of the most beautiful courses in the Midwest.

Rivercut boasts a driving range, practice greens, and a fully stocked Pro Shop. About the Department: The Springfield-Greene County Park strives to provide the very best in parks and recreation facilities, programs, events, and services to our community. In doing so, we will make a positive impact on the overall quality of life, health, environmental, social, and economic aspects for our resident families and visitors alike.

The Park Board includes 3,200 acres and 105 sites, ranging from neighborhood playgrounds to multi-use recreational facilities to natural resource areas. The system includes four golf courses, three family centers, a zoo, a farm park, botanical gardens, several sports and athletic complexes, two indoor aquatics centers, six outdoor swimming pools, multiple School-Park sites and more than 100 miles of recreational trails -- including 70 miles of Greenways. Qualifications and Requirements Experience, Education, and Training Typically requires graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture or closely related field; AND Six months experience in golf course maintenance or closely related field such as lawn care or landscape service work; OR Two years experience in golf course maintenance or closely related field such as lawn care or landscape service work; PREFERRED Supervisory experience. Licensing/Certification Must possess a valid Missouri Driver's License and required insurance; Must obtain within one year and maintain throughout the appointment a Missouri Certified Public Pesticide Applicators License in ornamental and turf pest control.
