Job description

We're looking to grow our Architecture Team at NLS!

Are you passionate about building innovative insurance technology solutions and leading teams to deliver impactful results? As a Policy Architect, you’ll play a key role in shaping how our clients leverage the Duck Creek platform to power their business.

In this role, you’ll design and guide the development of custom applications using Duck Creek’s powerful toolset. You’ll work closely with clients, developers, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. Your architectural vision will serve as the foundation for implementation, while your leadership will help guide teams through delivery.

What You'll Do:

• Work closely with clients and internal teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technology solutions
• Evaluate business needs and present technical architecture solutions to both business and IT stakeholders
• Provide thought leadership to guide solution approval, including requirements sign-off, architecture design, staffing strategy, and timelines
• Assist project teams in planning and designing solutions that align with the client’s long-term functional and technical strategies
• Architect and guide the development of custom applications built on Duck Creek products and services
• Serve as a key client-facing representative for NLS, building strong relationships with stakeholders
• Mentor and guide development teams on all aspects of the Duck Creek platform
• Ensure solution designs provide a strong foundation for successful implementation by the development team


What You'll Bring:

• Deep expertise in Duck Creek Policy Administration, including components such as Author, Express, Server, User Admin, and TransACT
• Experience with Duck Creek Skins and UI customization
• Experience developing C#-based custom business objects
• Experience working with Duck Creek APIs and Duck Creek Anywhere
• Experience with Duck Creek Data Insights
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Experience working with blended or distributed development teams
• Highly motivated, self-starter mindset with strong teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills
• Commitment to taking ownership of client issues and driving them to resolution


Education & Experience:

• 10+ years of overall industry experience
• 8+ years of experience working with Duck Creek product lines
• Hands-on development experience with Duck Creek toolsets including Author and Product Studio
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong understanding of Duck Creek ManuScript components and the ability to translate business requirements into ManuScript inheritance structures
• 3+ years of Duck Creek solution architecture experience, including leading blueprinting and design sessions
• Hands-on experience with Duck Creek Author components (Pages, Forms, Tables)
• Experience with Duck Creek debugging tools such as TraceMonitor, ExampleUtil (including TSV), and Data Tester
• Experience integrating Duck Creek solutions using C# and custom component development
• Hands-on experience with Duck Creek shredding, including IDO
• Experience with Duck Creek Skins technologies including Ext JS, CSS, and XSLT within the Duck Creek Express platform
• Experience working with XML or similar programming languages
• Experience working with Duck Creek product versions and upgrades
• Strong experience with SQL Server including stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions/types, cursors, and XQueries
• Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including Agile environments


Additional Requirements:

• Full-time position working primarily Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM local time (occasional after-hours work may be required)
• This position can be remote or based in one of our offices in Springfield, MO; Puerto Rico; or Honduras
• Ability to travel as needed
