Job description

Overview

As a Landscape Technician, you enjoy nurturing and developing plants and living environments. We welcome you to join Esri where you can combine your extensive knowledge of plants and landscaping to care for and develop our extensive urban forest. You will have the opportunity to work across multiple properties and future projects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain landscapes of various properties by blowing leaves/debris and trimming trees, shrubs, and groundcovers
  • Perform work safely, on time, and according to established procedures, regulations, and guidelines
  • Perform weed mitigation and interior plant care
  • Maintain, assess, and repair irrigation systems by replacing heads, repairing laterals, adjusting nozzles, and more
  • Prune and shape trees and shrubs naturally
  • Plant shrubs and groundcovers
  • Assess and report landscape issues and needs
  • Manage and coordinate landscape projects from start to finish with a proactive approach
  • Work independently to identify project requirements, develop timelines and allocate resources

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in landscape industry
  • 3+ years of irrigation experience
  • Desire to nurture an urban arboretum regarding maintenance and plant health
  • Horticulture knowledge
  • Experience with hand tools (shovels, pruners, hand saws, and more) and power tools (blowers, chain saws, line trimmers, and more)
  • Capable of doing extensive walking, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting/carrying a minimum of 50 pounds by applying proper body mechanics
  • Effective written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Self-motivated and the ability to take direction and follow through
  • Possess and utilize good interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • A valid California driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are required for this position (mileage will be reimbursed) 
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Recommended Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of landscape education
  • Ability to identify plants and trees
  • Ability to prune shrubs naturally
  • Basic computer and smartphone skills
