Job Overview
AFW is looking for a Groundskeeper who will be able to provide professional landscaping services for our entire facility. The Groundskeeper will be responsible for performing ongoing landscaping tasks, as well as routine maintenance of all landscaping equipment.
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and the outside appearance of the facility. If you have experience in landscaping and a strong attention to detail, then AFW is looking for you.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Commitment to AFW's safety policies and procedures and ability to promote awareness.
  • Mow the lawns, prune the bushes and trees, edge the walkways and give the grounds a manicured look.
  • Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on the lawn care equipment and tools.
  • Take on special landscaping or planting projects as deemed necessary by the AFW management team.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to make sure the grounds and the building are properly cared and clean up to AFW standards.
  • Plant and care for shrubs, trees, plants, and flowers.
  • Sprays for weeds and insects using chemicals approved by AFW.
  • Report all acts of vandalism, destruction of property and suspicious behavior to management.
  • Report all property issues and potential liabilities along with recommendations for solving such issues to the AFW management team.
  • Pick up litter, rake and bag leaves, etc.
  • Repairs fences, gates, walls, and irrigation systems, using carpentry, masonry and painting tools.
  • May operate trucks and assorted power equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
  • Ability to efficiently work independent of direct supervision.
  • Maintain a neat and safe work environment.
  • All training provided by AFW
  • Other duties to be assigned/directed by supervisor.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Job Requirements
  • Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the ability to safely use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Knowledge of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides used in grounds care and gardening.
  • Experience using power tools, pruning tools, and lawn mowers.
  • Previous experience as a groundskeeper, gardener, or similar role.
  • Able to have a flexible schedule and work all shifts, holidays, and weekends.

Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED is preferred.; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted in lieu of diploma.
Compensation
Pay Rate: Starting at $17/hour and up - dependent on experience
Pay Grade A: $16.00-26.91

Physical Requirements
  • Capacity to maneuver in confined and at times congested areas.
  • Capability to stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours or more daily.
  • Lifting, gripping, bending, kneeling, stooping, and moving merchandise 8 hours or more daily.
  • Continuous use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.
  • Ability to lift, lower, move, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs. and the skill to handle/manipulate up to 100 lbs. frequently.
  • Able to work in variable environments with different lighting, loud exterior noise, and flooring.
