Company Overview:


Our company specializes in public works construction for state and local agencies, performing civil engineering-type projects across the 4 counties of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, and Riverside. We are committed to delivering high-quality work on streets, highways, parks, and other public improvement projects.

Job Summary:


We are seeking a motivated and experienced Landscape Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of landscape and irrigation work on public works projects, including but not limited to installing controllers, mainline irrigation systems, running irrigation wires, installing valves, lateral lines, sprinkler heads, and planting trees and shrubs. This position is governed by prevailing wage standards and requires working on various public improvement projects such as streets, highways, and parks.

Scope of Work:
As a Landscape Laborer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Landscaping & Irrigation Work:

    • Decorative landscaping including walls, pools, ponds, reflecting units, lighting displays, hand and tractor-grade landscaped areas.

    • Installation of irrigation systems, including trenching, layout, backfilling, and testing.

    • Planting of trees, shrubs, vines, and ground covers (including removal, relocation, and trimming of trees).

    • Installation of ground covers like rock, gravel, and other specified materials.

    • Preparing soil with wood shavings, fertilizers, or other top dressings.

    • Installing header boards, cement mowing edges, and other landscape finishing work.

  • Irrigation Installation:

    • Installation of automatic irrigation systems, including controllers, valves, sensors, and wiring.

    • Laying and distribution of irrigation pipes and materials.

    • Setting valve boxes, thrust blocks, pipe hangers, and supports.

    • Performing system start-up, flushing, purging, and testing of irrigation systems.

  • Traffic Control and Site Preparation:

    • Performing minor traffic control work as it relates to landscape tasks (excluding high-traffic areas).

    • Assisting in the clean-up of the worksite, maintaining safety, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

  • Plant Establishment and Maintenance:

    • Perform plant establishment work, including watering and care, during warranty periods.

    • Reporting any maintenance or adjustments needed for landscaping and irrigation systems.


Duties / Requirements & Qualifications:

  • General Requirements:

    • Ability to perform landscaping and irrigation tasks with minimal supervision.

    • Must be capable of working in a variety of weather conditions (hot/cold).

    • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, stand, sit, bend, and perform other physical tasks.

    • Must be dependable, honest, and possess a strong work ethic.

    • Ability to work cooperatively with a team and adhere to safety regulations.

    • Must have reliable transportation to travel between various work locations.

    • Flexibility to work overtime or weekends when required (though this is rare).

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2+ years of experience in commercial landscaping and irrigation installation.

    • Experience in the heavy construction industry.

    • Ability to operate construction machinery (higher pay rate available for operators).

    • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.

    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.


Conditions of Employment:

  • This role requires significant experience to manage landscaping and irrigation projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.

  • If you do not meet the experience qualifications to perform this work independently, we are also considering candidates for the Landscape Tender position, where you will assist with landscaping tasks under the supervision of a Landscape Laborer.
