Position Summary

The Foreman, Landscape Installation is a critical field leader responsible for overseeing landscape installation crews and supporting the successful execution of new build installation and construction projects. This role combines hands-on landscape installation work with crew leadership responsibilities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The Foreman, Landscape Installation leads teams in activities including digging, grading, planting, tree bracing, mulching, laying sod, and site clean-up while reading design plans, performing layout inspections, and supporting project walkthroughs to ensure client satisfaction. This team member reports directly to the Project Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

As one of our Foremen, Landscape Installation, you will have the following areas of responsibility:

Crew Leadership & Project Execution

  • Lead crew members and crew leaders to install landscaping according to project plans and specifications on commercial and residential properties
  • Delegate tasks and train new crew members and crew leaders to perform work efficiently and safely
  • Track project progress and maintain accountability for high-quality completion
  • Conduct daily planning with the Landscape Superintendent

Project Management & Resource Coordination

  • Ensure assigned client projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Read and execute installation plans and perform accurate plant material layout
  • Maintain project schedules and support on-time production goals
  • Ensure crews have the necessary tools, equipment, and materials to complete work

Landscape Installation & Field Operations

  • Perform landscape installation tasks including laying sod, laying out plant materials, and planting trees, shrubs, ground cover, and annuals
  • Dig, trench, and grade soil as needed
  • Hand water plants as needed
  • Operate construction equipment including skid steers, excavators, tractors, sod cutters, tillers, augers, trenchers, and loaders
  • Perform work carefully to avoid damage to the work of other trades, including irrigation
  • Use blowing equipment to clear debris and maintain clean project sites

Quality, Safety & Documentation

  • Monitor job quality standards and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Ensure all tasks are completed to company quality standards and client expectations
  • Complete and submit all required daily and weekly paperwork, including safety sheets, equipment and vehicle inspections, and production reports
  • Enforce all company safety protocols and regulations
  • Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times, including helmets, fall protection, ear plugs, safety glasses, and gloves
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership

Qualifications & Core Competencies

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in landscaping or lawn maintenance required
  • Minimum 2 years previous experience managing a crew
  • Ability to read plans and accurately execute layouts
  • Native plant knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to proactively communicate with team members
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred
  • Strong pride in workmanship and ability to build relationships internally and externally
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred for effective crew communication

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and squat for prolonged periods throughout the day
  • Ability to use hand and power tools for extended periods
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, high humidity, and rain

Driver Qualifications

To qualify as a Driver, in addition to the above, you must:

  • Possess a valid driver's license issued in the United States for a minimum of three years
  • Maintain a clean driving record for at least three years
  • Successfully pass a drug screening

Compensation for this role will be market competitive and will be reviewed in the pre-screen questionnaire.
