Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Operating Engineer to help oversee the maintenance and operations of our iconic high-rise office building located in the Central Business District/Downtown Houston. This is a prestigious position offering the opportunity to work directly for the building ownership.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Assist Chief, Assistant Chief, and Lead oversee and manage aspects of building maintenance and operations.
  • Manage various maintenance and operational projects.
  • Work collaboratively with others and foster a team-oriented environment.
  • Ensure all systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) are functioning optimally.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Supervise and mentor our team of Building engineers.
  • Coordinate contractor and vendor activities as needed.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance activities and help prepare reports for ownership.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building maintenance, preferably in high-rise buildings.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient using maintenance management software.
  • Proven ability to manage projects effectively.
  • Proficient working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Absolute team player with a collaborative mindset.
Must possess:
  • City of Houston Stationary Engineers License, preferably First Grade, but will make an allowance based on experience.
  • State of Texas Maintenance Electricians License.
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification
