Job Summary:


Amwaste is seeking an experienced Landfill Manager to oversee daily landfill operations while ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for managing people, processes and resources to deliver safe, compliant and cost-effective performance.



Responsibilities:

  • Direct day-to-day landfill operations, including construction, permitting, leachate, and gas management.
  • Drive efficiency by reducing truck turnaround times and optimizing site productivity.
  • Ensure full compliance with Amwaste safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor and report waste volume, weight, and operational metrics.
  • Build and maintain strong community and regulatory relationships.
  • Lead and develop landfill staff through training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Manage departmental budgets and meet financial review deadlines.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure site cleanliness and equipment reliability.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Prepare and submit reports in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements


Required:

  • Landfill management experience preferred (5+ years' experience)
  • Must have experience operating heavy equipment
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
