Job description

Martin Marietta is currently looking for a Land Manager to be responsible for the management of owned and leased real estate within the southern portion of the East Division. The primary area of responsibility will be locations in Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee.

  • Administer the process of leasing property for mining (or amending existing leases), including coordination with management, legal staff, and property owners to negotiate leases/amendments, including the preparation of legal documents and coordination of all due diligence efforts.
  • Administer the process of property acquisition and divestiture, including coordination with management, legal staff and buyer/seller to negotiate purchase agreements, including the preparation of legal documents and coordination of all due diligence efforts; and coordination with legal, tax, and accounting staff to manage closing of the transaction.
  • Coordinate with accounting staff to ensure the accurate and timely payment of royalties and other required payments.
  • Develop/maintain relationships with property owners where needed.
  • Manage lease conditions/requirements and critical dates.
  • Involvement in the preparation and update of zoning, mining and reclamation plans.
  • Asist with monitoring sites for zoning compliance and renewing or amending zoning permits as needed.
  • Involvement in due diligence for green site development and acquisition or divestiture of existing mine sites.
  • Assist with the population and ongoing maintenance of the corporate land database.
  • Promote the Martin Marietta safety culture.
  • Provide technical assistance to production staff and management.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Work Environment

This job operates both in the office and in the field (mine sites, government offices, residences, etc.). This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners/photocopiers, filing cabinets. Routine travel by car between appointments and sites. Competency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), GIS and AutoCAD is important to this role. Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, wet or dry). Some exposure to dust, noise, sand, gravel, water, diesel exhaust, etc. Potential for long hours in vehicle.

Travel

Frequent day trips and/or overnight trips will be required, generally scheduled at the employee’s discretion, to participate in appointments, meetings, and site visits.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, real estate, land use planning, land/energy management, or related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

Preferred qualifications:

5+ years of experience in land management, experience with AutoCAD and ESRI GIS software.
