Job description

At Canada West Land (CWL), we're redefining land management through a collaborative, tech-enabled approach that puts people and progress first. With over 45 years of industry leadership, we combine deep expertise with technology to deliver innovative and reliable land solutions across Western Canada.


We are currently looking for a Lead Land Analyst, based out of our Calgary Office, to take on a leadership role with the following accountabilities:


Lead, Manage, Accountable

  • Mentor and coach teammates to promote development and high performance through tangible goal setting
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge through ongoing learning
  • Oversee daily logistics and tasks with clear, achievable direction for all direct and indirect reports
  • Coach, consult, and mentor teammates on correct CWL procedures and policies and industry best practices
  • Provide constructive feedback and self-awareness tools to drive development and high performance
  • Build trusting relationship across the team including all shareholders

Team Experience

Will collaborate with HR and other business partners to cultivate a positive team experience at CWL by:

  • Maintaining a high standard of Team recruitment and ongoing development of teammates
  • Ensuring a positive, integrative, and successful onboarding experience
  • Creating a positive work environment to boost engagement, productivity, and inclusivity
  • Managing all aspects of performance management through constructive coaching and mentorship


Project Management


Planning

  • Assist in defining project scope, schedule, budget, and identify risks and constraints
  • Analyze scope against required processes and identify gaps
  • Continuously communicate with all stakeholders and collaborate with teammates to drive efficiencies


Training Responsibilities

  • Ensure CWL's compliance as outlined in procedures
  • Train the team to meet project deliverables


Executing

  • Direct and manage project work, maintaining scope, schedule, and budget
  • Collect data and provide status reports
  • Perform risk management and contingency planning
  • Apply subject matter expertise to field and analyst work
  • Adapt to changes (regulatory, environmental, etc.) and resource accordingly
  • Utilize internal resources, including personnel and software
  • Weekly meetings with project team(s)


Quality Assurance

  • Responsible for quality control throughout the project
  • Audit documentation for the acquisition of lands and third parties
  • Maintain land database with correct data
  • Ensure regulatory compliance


Monitoring and Controlling

  • Maintain regular client communication
  • Measure and analyze project progress
  • Resolve derailments and communicate effectively to keep the project on track
  • Adapt to client needs for effective reporting


Closing

  • Confirm all project requirements are met and ensure client satisfaction
  • Review lessons learned with the project team


Client Relationships

  • Maintain proactive communication with clients
  • Ensure all client communication aligns with CWL core values and reflects a unified team approach to work
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with client's teams, senior managers, and key stakeholders
  • Identify and promote areas for additional and ongoing services and business lines to sell to client (i.e. GIS, Indigenous Relations, project infrastructure/pipeline maintenance etc.)

Ensure the health, safety, and well-being in the workplace:

  • Adhere to and inform teammates of all Health & Safety requirements per organizational policies and legislation
  • Ensure teammates and leaders are properly trained and cooperate with those exercising legislative duties
  • Follow and ensure workers adhere to established safety procedures and protocols.
  • Use and ensure compliance with required controls, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Identify, report, and resolve (when able) unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, or potential risks
  • Promote a culture of safety through active involvement, training attendance, teammate support, and safety observations
  • Ensure OHS legislation is readily available on work sites


Travel Requirements

Travel may be required (typically up to 10%) for projects or to attend events. Additional travel may be necessary for seminars, training, or visits to alternate locations. This requirement may change based on business needs.


Experience and Qualifications

We welcome candidates with a blend of relevant experience and/or education. The ideal candidate have:

  • Post-secondary education in Land Administration or Land Agent considered an asset
  • Previous experience (7+ years) in land administration/agent or relevant experience is required
