POSITION SUMMARY: An Automotive Technician, often called Service Tech, will maintain, inspect, and repair vehicles within the service bay. Provides accurate information to service manager and service advisors, concerning vehicles that are processed through the company for business purposes. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Perform vehicle repair, multi-point inspection, and/or maintenance work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
  • Complete system diagnostics and full automotive troubleshooting and testing
  • Communicate with parts department and service advisors regularly to effectively manage production and customer communication
  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repair, if authorized by the Customer
  • Make appropriate recommendations to ensure safety and reliability of customer vehicles
  • Document work performed on each vehicle on the repair order
  • Maintain an inventory of normal technician's tools not normally inventoried by the service department as special tools
  • Keep aware of factory technical bulletins and participating in factory-sponsored training classes as appropriate
  • Road-test vehicles to ensure quality work as needed
  • Communicate directly with service advisors regarding the status of the service work
  • Comply with company safety policies and procedures
  • Efficient and accurate work in accordance with dealerships and factory standards
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques
  • Attend technician training courses, as requested by service manager
  • May be asked to train and/or mentor other coworkers, as needed
  • May be asked to speak with or ride with customers, if authorized by supervisor
  • Conduct business in an ethical and professional manner
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain professional appearance in accordance with the employee handbook
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and clean shop area
  • Expected to arrive to work on time and work required shift
  • Follow instructions from supervisor
  • Interact effectively with co-workers
  • Receive feedback from supervisor in a positive manner

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Work experience within the related job duties assigned; 2+ years’ experience as an automotive technician preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in area of service for automotive technicians
  • Additional certifications may be required, such as ASE Certification, etc.
  • A-level qualifications, including Diagnostic, Electrical and Engine Repair
  • Broad knowledge of new vehicle technologies
  • Ambitious, hardworking presence in a team environment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
