Job description

Position Title:  Land Mobile Radio Specialist Intermediate

Work Location: Detroit Arsenal, Warren, MI

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000

Job Summary

KaiHonua LLC has an immediate opening for a Land Mobile Radio Specialist Intermediate to join our rapidly growing team.  Under general direction works with client user group on Fleet mapping solution and fine tuning for best functionality. Programs Network controller with parameters to make this fleet map work. Programs User ID’s into the network controller to establish a positive subscriber list in the network controller (similar to a mac address list in a switch). Reprogram Positive subscriber list as subscribers are deactivated and new subscribers are installed. Run Weekly reports for activity and efficiency of network operations (checking for Bogus user attempts, blocking, PTT delays and system errors). Program and document AES encryption codes changes and per talk group encryption depending on client user group request or schedules. Program and run OTAR functions. Program and run  OTAP functions. Backup Network controller on a schedule and restore when required. Program and run emergency talk group reassignment and mutual aid talk groups when required. Process parts orders.  Run parts inventory reports. Run stock subscriber reports. Schedule subscriber technical issues (batteries, Antenna, remote mic and malfunction issues). Schedule subscriber vehicle installation.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • Support Motorola ASTRO 25 SmartZone Release 7.14 trunked system.
  • Program and run emergency talk group reassignment and mutual aid talk groups when required.
  • Process parts orders.
  • Run parts inventory reports.
  • Run stock subscriber reports.
  • Schedule subscriber technical issues (batteries, Antenna, remote mic and malfunction issues). Schedule subscriber vehicle installation.
  • Provide touch labor
  • Provide Land Mobile Radio (LMR) programming and perform regular software maintenance, including patching and upgrades.
  • Update software to ensure compatibility, security, and optimal performance, as well as applying patches to address known issues and vulnerabilities.
  • Provide Tier II and Tier III
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline preferred or have equivalent experience
  • Three to 5 years of experience preferred

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time.  Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen.  Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner.  May include lifting weight up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.

  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record may be required
  • Occasional use of company vehicle while on work site

Security Clearance

Position requires a Secret security clearance.  Must be a US citizen.
