This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Atlantic Fields, set outside of Hobe Sound, FL
Atlantic Fields is seeking a Youth Program Coordinator to join the Outdoor Pursuits Department
The Youth Coordinator position will lead and supervise groups and individuals in the outdoors, ensuring their safety and teaching skills and techniques relevant to the particular activity being undertaken. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead/instruct individuals or groups in various activities (fishing, obstacle course, sport games, crafts, hikes, etc.).
• Training members and guests on safety requirements and guidelines.
• Cleaning, maintaining, and preparing equipment (fishing, crafts, etc.).
• Overall coordination of youth planned activities with the aim of providing a healthy, safe, and memorable experience.
• Facilitate all youth programming in Outdoor Pursuits.
• Instruct and participate in OP activities with members and guests to include but not limited to archery, axe throwing, equestrian operations, fishing and racquet sports.
• Accompany and supervise participants to both on and off-site events and safely transport them in a company vehicle.
• Participate in overnight camping experiences on property as requested.
• Complete daily set-up/breakdown of department activities per the departments SOP.
• Demonstrate or train others on safe and effective usage of all Outdoor Pursuits activities.
• Maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner.
• Serve as a brand ambassador for the Outdoor Pursuits department, consistently reflecting the club's standard of hospitality and member engagement
• Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Degree in Education or Early Child Development or actively pursuing a degree is highly preferred.
• Possess knowledge of outdoor recreation and marine environments.
• Prior teaching, daycare worker, or youth leadership experience preferred.
• Previous experience in the guest service industry preferred.
Additional Requirements
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
• Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
