Job description

Civil-Site Development Engineer III

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a Civil-Site Development Engineer III to join our growing team in Mobile, Alabama. In this role, you will support the planning, design, permitting, and execution of civil-site development projects for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure clients.

Working under general supervision, you will perform engineering analyses, develop design solutions, prepare technical documents, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects from concept through construction. Education
  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university required.
Licensure
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification may be considered if PE licensure can be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment.
Experience
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant civil-site engineering experience preferred.
  • Industrial site development experience is highly preferred.
  • Candidates with commercial, municipal, government, or infrastructure project experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with state and local land development permitting is required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare engineering calculations, analyses, and design documents for civil-site development projects.
  • Design and support grading, drainage, stormwater management, roadway, utility, and land development improvements.
  • Prepare technical reports and permit applications for clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop conceptual site layouts and assist with feasibility studies and cost estimates.
  • Create and review construction plans, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Perform field investigations, site visits, tie-in verification, and construction support activities.
  • Conduct zoning, land development, and regulatory code research.
  • Review engineering calculations and design work completed by other engineers for technical accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support project execution and identify scope changes.
  • Review contractor and vendor submittals for conformance with project requirements.
  • Support project planning efforts, including estimating engineering hours, scheduling activities, and monitoring project progress.
  • Assist with mentoring junior engineers and coordinating small project teams to maintain alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Apply Hargrove's engineering and drafting standards throughout all phases of project development.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles related to site development, drainage, utilities, and land development projects.
  • Knowledge and application of industry standards and codes, including AASHTO, ASTM, AWWA, AREMA, NRCS, NFPA, and related design standards.
  • Ability to interpret and apply local, state, and municipal land development regulations.
  • Experience with stormwater modeling and analysis software such as:
    • HEC-RAS
    • HEC-HMS
    • Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA)
    • ICPR
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D required.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, teammates, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Experience working within virtual and multi-office project teams.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and guide small project teams.
