Job description

We are growing our Land Development team in Kansas City and looking for a Team Leader to help lead the next phase!

This role is for someone who is already leading projects and relationships and is ready to have a bigger hand in shaping both. Not just managing work, but helping influence how it's delivered and how the team grows.

What you'll be doing:

You'll lead land development projects from concept through construction, working closely with clients and internal teams to keep things moving - technically, financially, and relationally.

Along the way, you'll:

  • Mentor and support a team of engineers

  • Build and strengthen client relationships (and help bring new ones in!)

  • Stay close to project performance (we're talking scope, schedule, and budget)

  • Play a role in expanding our presence in the Kansas City market

  • Help shape how the team operates and delivers work

What we're looking for:

    • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field preferred

    • 5+ years of land development experience

    • PE license preferred

    • Strong project and client management experience

    • Experience leading teams or a clear readiness to step into that role

    • A sense of ownership: you care about the work, your team, and your clients

    • Why OWN
    • We're a 100% employee-owned firm, which shows up in how people approach their work and support each other. In practice, that means:

      • Real ownership. Your work directly contributes to the company's success and your future.

      • Trust and autonomy. You're empowered to make decisions without unnecessary layers.

      • Growth in Kansas City. This role plays a part in where we're headed, not just where we've been.

      • Strong, low-ego teams. People who support each other and take pride in doing good work.

      • Flexibility that's real. We treat you like a professional and a person.

And we like to have fun along the way!

      About OWN

OWN, Inc. provides civil engineering, land surveying, and field services for private development and public infrastructure clients across Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and beyond.

We're built on employee ownership and driven by people who care about the work, each other, and the communities we're part of.

It is the policy of OWN, Inc. to provide equal employment opportunities to all persons without regard to their race, age, color, physical handicap or disability, military service record, religion, sex, national origin or any other categorization protected by law, and to promote the full realization of equal employment opportunity through a positive continuing program.
