Summary
The Laminator Operator is responsible for operating the machine that applies plastic protective film to surfaces of panels. This position requires a keen eye for detail, adherence to strict operating procedures, and the ability to maintain high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mount rolls of plastic protective film on machine spindles and adjust controls to regulate speed, temperature, and pressure of laminating rollers.
  • Feed printed materials into rollers or position them on feeders that feed panels into the machine.
  • Set up the laminator for jobs by configuring film, die cutter, and conveyor according to specific job tickets.
  • Keep track of laminated ID cards ensuring they remain in sequential order and examine them for defects and quality concerns.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on the laminator to ensure optimal operation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization around the workstation to prevent operational hazards.
  • Accurately complete daily shift reports, detailing production activities and any issues encountered.
  • Troubleshoot basic machine issues and make adjustments as needed to maintain production standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure
High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a finishing or lamination environment.
Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform simple maintenance tasks.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure
Knowledge of die cuts and film types.
Experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
Working Conditions
Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to perform the following activities for the majority of the day: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb. In addition, requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
