Job description

Position Summary:

Working with the Development Services Manager, the Development Services Specialist will support the major giving, planned giving, membership and institutional giving teams. Utilizing Salesforce and other databases, they will interpret giving history, track revenue, update spreadsheets and account information, and assist ongoing stewardship efforts.

Expected Compensation Range: $28 - $32 per hour. The exact salary rate is determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.

Position Responsibility:

  • Assist the Development Services Manager with donor stock transfers, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and transfer of stock payments.
  • As a Salesforce NPSP Power User, act as the go-to support for the major gifts and planned giving teams on account related questions, annual projects, track and update giving opportunities, and troubleshoot additional database questions, cases, or problems.
  • Update revenue and donor tracking spreadsheets, tying the information back into Salesforce.
  • Create ad-hoc Salesforce reports as needed and assist the Development Services Manager in creating regularly needed reports, data tracking, metrics, and analytics.
  • Manage donor acknowledgments for major gifts and leadership circle and create timely custom stock donation acknowledgments for major donors.
  • Review daily check deposit batches for and facilitate completion of additional documentation required by donors.
  • Assist development team members in understanding donor records, payments, and pledges, including pledge/payment adjustments, cancellations, thank you gifts, merges, and other requests.
  • Pull wealth screening data and clean lists for one-off bulk wealth screens.
  • Research problems and provide resolution/information to major and planned giving, membership, institutional giving, and the CRM team.
  • Work closely with the Development Operations team to help fulfill requests and create pledge forms for on-air challenges. Review and verify this information across platforms in preparation for pledge drives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years Salesforce experience, with a preference given to completion of Salesforce Lightning training 
  • Minimum of 4 years experience working in fundraising or philanthropy
  • Experience using Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software with proficiency in Excel and SharePoint.
  • Experience working in CRMs or databases

  • Strong service ethic and the ability to contribute to the overall quality of the department.
  • Can lead in-house trainings for Salesforce and iWave for MG and IG teams
  • Strong research skills for tasks related to general department operations and ad-hoc requests
  • Can think “big picture” to improve processes and own the improvement process from start to finish
  • Excellent record-keeping skills with particular experience in event database management

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of donor relational database systems.
  • Experience working with Salesforce reporting and Apsona
  • Knowledge of the various aspects of nonprofit giving, such as annual funds, major gifts, donor advised funds, tax substantiation, and acknowledgments.
  • Bookkeeping or other accounting experience.
  • Interest in/knowledge of nonprofit organizations and public broadcasting.
  • Familiar with donation processing
