Job description

Frontgrade is seeking a highly skilled Test Engineer III to lead the development and execution of advanced electrical and environmental test solutions in support of aerospace-grade products. This role is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive test strategies, developing Special Test Equipment (STE), and supporting both qualification and production testing of motors, resolvers, encoders, actuators, slip rings, flex tapes, and control electronics.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in test automation, electrical troubleshooting, and environmental testing. Emphasis is placed on developing automated, scalable, and repeatable test solutions to optimize efficiency, ensure quality consistency, and support program requirements.
This position also includes hands-on involvement with environmental test systems, including thermal vacuum chambers, ambient thermal chambers, and vibration equipment.
Compensation: $104,000- $130,000
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement automated test solutions using LabVIEW, Python, or similar tools to support product and environmental testing.
  • Develop clear, executable test plans based on customer requirements and verification/validation objectives.
  • Create detailed test procedures, fixtures, and Special Test Equipment (STE) to enable accurate and repeatable testing.
  • Lead electrical testing and troubleshooting of motors, actuators, resolvers, encoders, control electronics, and mixed-signal circuit cards.
  • Set up and execute environmental testing, including thermal vacuum and vibration testing.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to production test technicians to ensure efficient and compliant test execution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, test coverage, and overall process efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and interface with customers as needed to ensure successful program execution

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in electrical test engineering or similar hands-on engineering roles.
  • Solid understanding of motor and actuator operation, along with experience troubleshooting analog and digital electronics.
  • Experience developing automated test solutions (LabVIEW, Python, or similar) and designing test fixtures or Special Test Equipment (STE).
  • Familiarity with environmental testing such as thermal, thermal vacuum, and vibration.
  • Experience working in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries is preferred.
  • Comfortable supporting technical documentation, customer interactions, and cross-functional reviews.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
