Labview Development information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a LabVIEW Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a LabVIEW Developer, you need strong expertise in graphical programming, experience with test automation, and a background in engineering or computer science. Familiarity with National Instruments LabVIEW software, DAQ hardware, and certifications like Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) are typically required. Problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating on complex projects and troubleshooting issues. These skills ensure efficient system development, reliable test automation, and smooth team collaboration in high-tech environments.

What are some common challenges faced by LabVIEW Developers and how can they be addressed?

LabVIEW Developers often face challenges such as integrating LabVIEW with legacy hardware, managing large and complex codebases, and ensuring efficient collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. To address these, developers should maintain clear documentation, utilize LabVIEW's modular programming features, and follow best practices for version control. Regular code reviews and open communication with hardware engineers and project managers also help streamline development and troubleshoot issues quickly.

What is LabVIEW development?

LabVIEW development refers to the process of designing, creating, and maintaining applications using LabVIEW, which is a graphical programming environment developed by National Instruments. LabVIEW is widely used for data acquisition, instrument control, and industrial automation. Developers use LabVIEW's visual interface to create programs, or 'virtual instruments,' by connecting functional blocks instead of writing traditional code. This approach is especially popular in engineering, scientific research, and manufacturing settings where rapid prototyping and hardware integration are essential.

What is the difference between Labview Development vs Test Automation Engineer?

AspectLabview DevelopmentTest Automation Engineer
Required CredentialsTypically requires a degree in engineering or computer science, with LabVIEW certification often preferred.Requires a degree in engineering, computer science, or related field; certifications in testing tools are common.
Work EnvironmentPrimarily lab and development settings, working on hardware integration and data acquisition.Mostly office and lab environments, focusing on designing and executing automated tests.
Industry UsageUsed in manufacturing, aerospace, and research for data acquisition and control systems.Common in electronics, automotive, and software industries for quality assurance and testing.

While both roles involve testing and data analysis, Labview Development focuses on creating software for hardware control and data acquisition, whereas Test Automation Engineers design and implement automated testing processes to ensure product quality.

Test Engineer – Manufacturing

$90,000 – $110,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits + Paid Relocation to the Southern US

Join a global leader in automotive manufacturing as a Test Engineer supporting a high‑growth, high‑performance production facility. In this role, you will play a critical part in improving, maintaining, and innovating test systems that ensure the reliability and performance of advanced automotive components.

As a key technical contributor, you will develop and enhance test equipment, systems, and processes – driving improvements in uptime, reliability, and throughput. This Test Engineering position requires strong software skills paired with hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

What You’ll Do as the Test Engineer:

· Develop, troubleshoot, and improve test equipment and testing processes to enhance reliability and increase equipment uptime.

· Modify and optimize software, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to boost performance.

· Support and maintain equipment used to validate hardware and software functionality (chart recorders, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.).

· Utilize programming experience (LabVIEW, C++, VB.Net, VB6.0) to enhance system functionality and solve complex test challenges.

· Drive improvements via Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs, spare-parts strategies, and test process optimization.

· Create and specify control systems hardware and software, ensuring alignment with production requirements.

· Troubleshoot automated equipment and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum qualifications needed for this Test Engineer:

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

· At least 3 years of experience in a test engineering or similar manufacturing role

· Hands-on experience with test equipment support and PM development

· Strong data analysis capability, including SPC, R&R studies, and practical problem-solving

· Experience with PLC programming, design, and debugging

· Proficiency with PC-based programming tools such as Visual Basic, VB.Net, VB6.0, SQL, LabVIEW

· Ability to create, interpret, and revise electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints

· Experience setting up and operating lab instruments

· Strong troubleshooting skills with automated equipment.
