Key Responsibilities

Engineering technician (ET) supports new product development and production efforts through laboratory test activities. Position will require involvement with designers and engineers early in the design and support process for coordination of test requirements. ET will primarily work in the engineering lab. They will be responsible for its maintenance and insuring that consumable materials are replenished. Effective written and verbal communications are a must. This position demands strong technical skills and will require attention to details, ability to follow procedures, ability to work without direct supervision, a willingness to accept tasks and see them through to a successful completion. Candidate must be a team player and must have a high degree of professionalism and be self-motivated. ET will program test controls via LabView, perform environmental and performance tests, work with technical drawings and specifications, and operate various types of laboratory test equipment. ET reports to Director of Engineering, but will work with the Senior Engineering Technician. 


Key Deliverables of the Position

- Maintain engineering lab and all lab equipment

- Write LabView code for test system controls

- Performing engineering tests

- Assembly of mechanical test hardware

- Assembly of electronic test hardware

- Calibrating laboratory equipment

- Troubleshooting electronic/mechanical hardware

- Specifying test equipment

Maintain laboratory consumable materials inventory

Requirements

Required Education and Experience

- Two-year technical degree in related field or equivalent


Required Technical Competencies

- 3 years minimum experience in LabView programing

- 3 years minimum experience in basic electronics assembly

- 3 years minimum experience working with electronic instrumentation and controls

- Ability to read both mechanical and electrical/electronic technical drawings and specifications

- Ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits and mechanical systems


Preferred Technical Competencies

- 3 years minimum experience working in engineering laboratory environment

- Experience with DC machines and electromagnetic devices

- Experience with mechanical stress/strain and vibratory test methods
