Job description


Position Title: Test Engineer
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Test Engineer opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the drafting of test requirements.
  • Author the test design documents, test procedures, test report, and supporting documents
  • Collaborate with internal customers to translate conceptual requirements into actionable test specifications, including design input, instrumentation strategy, and success criteria.
  • Define, select, and validate measurement instrumentation including force, displacement, strain, and temperature sensors (e.g., load cells, LVDTs, encoders, RTDs, etc.).
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts including fixture design, control system integration, and lab space planning, leveraging technicians, designers, and facility personnel as needed.
  • Manage test campaigns from concept through execution and reporting, including test setup, system validation, and post-test analysis.
  • Support safe execution of testing activities, which may include working at elevated heights (typically under 60 ft).
  • Under the guidance of Senior Test Engineers, support the coordination of testing activities for setup and commissioning of experimental equipment.
  • Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices in order to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field of Engineering
  • Alkali metal testing and handling experience is desired
  • Greater than three (3) years of relevant experience in a testing / research and development environment preferred.
  • Experience with post-processing and documenting experiments.
  • Experience with multiple types of testing (R&D, Acceptance, Validation, Qualification)
  • Experience working with strain, vibration, linear motion, static loading, dynamic loading preferred
  • Working on large complex mechanical systems preferred
  • Practical understanding of mechanical testing concepts such as force/displacement application, structural deflection, dynamic loading, vibration/impact, and environmental exposure.
  • Awareness of common dimensional/inspection tools and motion capture technologies (e.g., Faro trackers, CMMs), even if not directly operating them.
  • Ability to handle projects that include multiple objectives and ability to resolve conflicts between objectives
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Safety conscience.
  • Ability to operate within a lightly structured environment where test development requires a mix of standards-based guidance and first-principles problem solving.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as LabVIEW, SolidWorks, Jira/Confluence, and the Microsoft Office 365 suite is preferred.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trustworthiness and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
  • Travel Required: 0-5%.
