Job description

Job Summary
The Distribution Center Function Lead coordinates the safe, efficient, and accurate execution of daily operations within assigned functional area(s). This role leads shift readiness activities, coordinates labor deployment, monitors labor management dashboards, obtains productivity and quality performance 
reports, and champions adherence to safety and operational standards. The Function Lead facilitates training and operational readiness and maintains required operational and safety documentation. This position may provide coverage across multiple departments based on business needs.
Job Responsibilities
  • Supports a safe work environment by communicating and reinforcing safety standards, policies, and safe work practices. 
  • Conducts safety observations, audits, and near-miss reporting; escalates hazards as needed. 
  • Coordinates and oversees opening and closing shift activities, including readiness of staffing, equipment, system access, and work areas to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Participates in daily huddles, shift handoffs, and tier meetings to review performance.
  • Facilitates onboarding and training of new hires within assigned department(s).
  • Acts as a coordination point for daily operational questions, helping team members navigate the workplace and access information and resources needed to execute work effectively.
  • Coordinates workflow and labor priorities across the shift; identifies misalignments and communicates adjustments to leadership.
  • Escalates operational constraints or bottlenecks that affect throughput. 
  • Ensures accurate data entry and validation for WLM, labor tracking, and productivity systems.
  • Monitors, interprets, and communicates Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as daily productivity, quality, safety, and attendance metrics.
  • Recommends methods to improve operational processes within functional area, including enhancements to equipment use, system workflows, and daily activities within the area of responsibility.
  • Contributes to a positive team environment by encouraging participation in distribution center activities, initiatives, and events.
