Job description

LEMOINE, a Great Place to Work®-Certified company and ENR Top 400 Contractor, is seeking a dependable and hardworking General Laborer with storm pipe experience to join our Infrastructure Division.The General Laborer will support civil construction crews with the installation of storm drainage systems, underground utilities, structures, and related sitework. This position requires previous hands-on experience working around storm pipe installation, excavation activities, and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, reliable, and comfortable performing physically demanding work in an outdoor construction environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with the installation of reinforced concrete pipe, HDPE pipe, PVC pipe, catch basins, manholes, inlets, and other storm drainage structures.Help prepare trenches, pipe bedding, foundations, and work areas before pipe installation.Assist operators and pipe crews with guiding, aligning, connecting, and securing storm pipe.Use hand and power tools to complete excavation, grading, cutting, compacting, and general construction activities.Check pipe joints, connections, elevations, and alignment as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent.Assist with backfilling and compacting trenches after pipe installation.Support dewatering activities and help maintain safe, accessible excavation areas.Spot heavy equipment and assist operators while materials, pipe, and structures are being moved or installed.Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment.Maintain clean and organized work areas by removing debris and potential safety hazards.Follow all excavation, trenching, confined-space, and jobsite safety requirements.Wear required personal protective equipment and immediately report unsafe conditions.Perform additional labor-related duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent.QualificationsPrevious construction labor experience is required.Previous experience installing or working around storm pipe, drainage systems, underground utilities, catch basins, manholes, or related civil infrastructure is strongly preferred.Understanding of basic storm pipe installation practices, trench safety, bedding, backfill, and compaction.Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, compactors, pumps, and other construction equipment.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to work effectively as part of a crew in a fast-paced construction environment.Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts when required.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are preferred.OSHA 10, confined-space, excavation, or trench-safety training is preferred.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical activities throughout the workday.Ability to work inside and around trenches, excavations, uneven surfaces, mud, and active construction equipment.Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, humidity, dust, and other changing weather conditions.Ability to safely wear required personal protective equipment.Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily performed outdoors on active civil and infrastructure construction sites.
