Laboratory Supervisor, Histopathology

Are you an experienced laboratory professional looking to take the next step in your career? CellCarta is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor, Histopathology to join our team.
In this role, you'll combine hands-on laboratory work with leadership responsibilities, overseeing and mentoring staff while helping ensure the delivery of high-quality histopathology services. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll play a key role in maintaining operational excellence and supporting innovative research that advances human health.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure on-time production of laboratory services, including preanalytical aspects (tissue processing, tissue embedding, sectioning of both formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) and frozen tissues, and blood processing) and testing services (H&E, IHC, ISH, FISH, and IF staining)
  • Provide oversight of laboratory processes with involvement in improvement initiatives while ensuring and maintaining compliance with GxP, CAP, and CLIA requirements, CellCarta SOPs, and industry standards
  • Work closely with operational, quality, and project management teams to ensure the highest level of operational efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Provide leadership and guidance to laboratory personnel
  • Train employees and perform competency assessments
  • Ensure employees are up to date on training requirements
  • Maintain laboratory safety practices and identify and remediate safety risks and hazards
  • Participate in laboratory audits and inspections (CAP, CLIA, client, and internal), respond to findings, and remediate concerns
  • Maintain equipment and ensure maintenance is completed on time and effectively
  • Perform IQ, OQ, and PQ for new laboratory equipment
  • Perform laboratory bench work and testing as needed
  • Monitor laboratory supply and reagent inventory and oversee maintenance of the tissue bank

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related biological of life science field required

Main Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role within a clinical and/or research laboratory setting
  • 5+ years of post-graduate clinical laboratory experience required
  • 2+ years of clinical laboratory experience in histopathology and anatomic pathology
  • Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification preferred
  • Experience performing immunohistochemistry using autostainers such as the Dako Autostainer Link 48, Dako Omnis, Leica BOND RX, VENTANA BenchMark ULTRA, and VENTANA Discovery ULTRA
  • Experience with GxP regulations highly preferred
  • Understanding of the standards and requirements of a CAP/CLIA-accredited laboratory

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, on-site role, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
