Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Facility: W. W. Hastings Hospital
Location: 1612 E Downing St, Tahlequah, OK 74464
Schedule: Friday, Saturday & Sunday | 7:00 PM โ€“ 7:00 AM
Hours: 36 hours/week

 Position Overview:

W. W. Hastings Hospital is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to provide accurate and timely laboratory services in a hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Blood Bank and Chemistry, along with hands-on experience using Cerner Millennium and Ortho Clinical Diagnostics chemistry analyzers.

The MLT will be responsible for performing laboratory testing, maintaining quality and accuracy of results, and supporting the healthcare team in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

 Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform laboratory testing and procedures accurately and efficiently according to established protocols.
  • Process and analyze patient specimens while maintaining specimen integrity and accurate identification.
  • Perform Blood Bank testing and procedures according to established standards and safety protocols.
  • Perform Chemistry testing using Ortho Clinical Diagnostics analyzers.
  • Utilize Cerner Millennium for laboratory information management, documentation, and result reporting.
  • Support laboratory services for adult and pediatric patients.
  • Recognize and appropriately address abnormal or critical laboratory results.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Follow quality control, infection prevention, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support timely patient care.
  • Assist with phlebotomy duties when needed; phlebotomy experience is preferred but not required.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience
  • Current registration/certification as a Laboratory Technician through ASCP or AMT
  • AHA BLS certification โ€“ Required and must be in hand
  • Blood Bank experience โ€“ Required
  • Pediatric laboratory experience โ€“ Required
  • Chemistry experience โ€“ Required
  • Hands-on experience with Ortho Clinical Diagnostics chemistry analyzers โ€“ Required
  • Experience with Cerner Millennium โ€“ Required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital laboratory
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory quality and patient safet
 

Must have: Current registration/certification as a Laboratory Technician through ASCP or AMT. AHA BLS certification.
