Job Title: Laboratory Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee the operations of a smaller Midwood Laboratory. The laboratory includes departments such as chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, and histology. This role is pivotal in managing a 20-person team across three shifts, focusing primarily on chemistry and hematology.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the entire laboratory under the direction of the Laboratory Director.
  • Manage and supervise a team of 20 full-time employees, ensuring the smooth execution of testing and quality assurance activities in the chemistry and hematology programs.
  • Perform day-to-day management tasks, including troubleshooting, revising, and updating lab policies.
  • Ensure compliance with technical skill requirements in point of care testing and clinical laboratory functions.
  • Facilitate inspections and manage the laboratory's response to any necessary improvements.

Essential Skills

  • Current NYS Clinical Technologist licensure.
  • 3-5+ years of experience working as a Lab Manager or supervisor in a core laboratory setting, specifically in chemistry and hematology.
  • Proven experience in supervising staff, conducting inspections, and managing daily operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • ASCP certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience managing or overseeing an entire laboratory.
  • Background in medical technology and laboratory management.

Work Environment

This role operates strictly during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, with shifts from 8 AM to 4 PM or 9 AM to 5 PM. There are no night or weekend shifts, providing a balanced work schedule. The laboratory is equipped with the necessary technology to support operations in various departments.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Brooklyn, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $160000.00/yr.

4 weeks vacation 12 sick days 10 holidays medical coverage, requires employee to contribute to the coverage. if they use Maimonides for medical services, they do not need to pay at all. 403 pension
